Allgemeine Zeitung: “How the first games night at LEIZA in Mainz went”

The Allgemeine Zeitung published an article about the BrettSpielZeit at the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) on 3 February 2025.

The article includes the following:

“Everyone finds their space and their game here,” explains Tilmann Reiffen, chair of the association. […] Experienced players are walking around the hall, ready to explain the rules if needed. A group of seniors, for example, has just finished a game of the strategy classic “Carcassonne” and quickly calls over help for the final scoring.

[…] The area opposite the large hall is a bit quieter. Here, together with LEIZA staff, you can try out various historical games, such as those from ancient Egypt. Two girls are currently stepping back in time and playing “Hnefatafl”, a reconstructed strategy game from the Norman cultural sphere. “The idea of complementing the event with historical games is lovely,” says their mother.
