archaeologie42.de: “Free board game event at the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) in Mainz”
Archäologie 42 published an article about our BrettSpielZeit event at the Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie on 20 January 2025.
The article states, among other things:
Another focus is on games from Roman times, whose rules have long been forgotten. But here, history comes to life: participants in the BrettSpielZeit can test out reconstructed rules together with experts from LEIZA and develop new ideas. In the process, they gain fascinating insights into the cultural significance of gaming. “Games have been part of our culture and society for millennia. But what could gaming bring to communities in the past? And what does it bring today? How do people behave in positions of power, in ambushes, in roles? We find answers to these questions in our archaeological research at LEIZA and carry these findings into today’s society,” explains Dr. Antje Kluge-Pinsker, head of the Education Department at LEIZA.
